d’strict, a digital media content and technology design company, was a Platinum Sponsor for this year’s The Sapphire Dinner in Australia, an annual charity gala aimed at raising funds and awareness for marine conservation organisations.

To celebrate the event, mark World Oceans Day, and highlight the urgency of marine ecosystem conservation, the company granted complimentary licensing for four artworks, including WAVE. The form also showcased its works at the event, on a huge 50-metre by 6-metre screen.

Artwork inspired by the ocean

The annual Sapphire Dinner is a crucial component of the Sapphire Project, one of Australia’s key environmental efforts. All ticket sales from the event, which drew close to 300 guests including notable Australian donors and prominent conservationists, went to support environmental organisations. This year, d’strict was proud to support the event, in addition to Tiffany & Co., the presenting partner, and other well-known sponsors like Moet & Chandon and LSH AUTO.

This year’s gala had a massive 50-metre by 6-metre media wall that displayed immersive media art content with an ocean theme, in keeping with the theme of “Electrified.”

Four of d’strict’s original works, including the iconic pieces WAVE and WHALE as well as two more works inspired by the ocean and marine life, SURF BREAK and UNDERWATER, were donated as licences as part of the sponsorship of the event. These pieces bring attention to the fact that the protection and sustainability of our priceless marine ecosystems need to be prioritised on a worldwide scale.

Sean Lee, CEO of d’strict, says: “We are sponsoring The Sapphire Dinner as our experience with nature-inspired media artworks has instilled in us the urgency of protecting our nature and ecosystems. Nature is a universal language, and we are confident that our marine-themed artworks will resonate across borders, inspiring the world to pay more attention to sustainability.”

In 2020, d’strict debuted ‘WAVE’, a wave-themed public media art project, at K-POP Square in Seoul’s Samseong-dong. This calming installation offered a sense of tranquillity amid the fast-paced urban centres of Korea and beyond. The firm is presently expanding ARTE MUSEUM, with forthcoming locations in Las Vegas, USA, and Dubai, UAE.
