A new mind-bending immersive experience in central London will take visitors on a unique and thrilling journey through the imagination.
FLOW, Thereafter opens at Outernet in central London on 16th October 2025, and will see giant figures lead the audience on an exploration of the subjectivity of contemporary art.
Outernet London’s Now Building is the most visited cultural attraction in the UK and home to the most advanced screens in the world. Found next to Tottenham Court Road Station and Oxford Street, it is free to visit.
The new show is the latest in a series of iconic productions, which are free to enjoy, from The Butterfly Experience to Tetris.
FLOW, Thereafter is the sequel to the hit show FLOW, produced by d’strict - a huge digital media performance that translated the full history of Western art into dance, projected on the floor-to-ceiling, four-storeys-high, 16k definition screens. The familiar figures from the original, which opened to acclaim in February 2024, will engage in a massive game of chase or hunt (depending on how you see it).
Alexandra Payne, Outernet Director, Creative and Content Studio, said: "FLOW captivated audiences when it premiered at Outernet in 2024, and we’re delighted to once again collaborate with D’strict to bring its spectacular sequel, FLOW, Thereafter, to our screens. s’strict are true visionaries, and this new work playfully reimagines contemporary art through larger-than-life characters and breathtaking visuals. Whether you’re a tourist, commuter, art enthusiast, or simply captivated by creativity, we know audiences of all ages will be mesmerised by this extraordinary experience. We can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
d’strict’s executive creative director, Sang-hwa Park, said: “Many people hold the preconception that contemporary art is difficult and hard to understand. Because of its perceived sophistication, they often feel intimidated or keep their distance from it. FLOW, Thereafter is a ‘Misinterpretation Performance’ that takes contemporary art as its medium. Rather than following a fixed interpretation, it prioritizes personal perception and free interpretation. By earnestly transforming whimsical and seemingly nonsensical impressions of artworks into performance, it evokes empathy and curiosity, giving meaning and legitimacy to each interpretation.
“This performance centers on Star Cliff (2023) by Jinu Nam. After experiencing the work freely through the performance and taking the time to explore the artwork further, you will discover a deeper sense of connection and emotion, much like getting to know someone.
“Going forward, we will continue to expand the ‘Misinterpretation Performance’, bringing art a little closer to everyday life.”
